About the GPL component
The video conversion engine (FFmpeg) is distributed under GPL-2.0-or-later. That license allows anyone to use the program freely and requires its source code to be available to everyone who received a copy. The build is @ffmpeg/core 0.12.6, compiled from the ffmpeg.wasm v0.12.10 sources with the x264 and x265 libraries. The ffmpeg.wasm project replaces the code of FFmpeg’s command-line program and changes the x264 settings; details are in the license file. Links to the source code are in the table above. In addition, for three years we will send the complete source code of this build free of charge to anyone who asks at the address below.
About components under the LGPL and MPL
The HEIC decoder (libheif and libde265, LGPL-3.0) and the MP3 encoder (LAME, LGPL-2.0-or-later) are separate files: the pages load them by their own addresses and use them as they are, so either of them can be replaced with your own version. The licenses let you modify these libraries for your own use and study how they work to debug your changes; the terms of this site do not limit that. The source code of the exact versions is at the links in the table above and in the licenses file. In addition, for three years after a component was last served from this site, we will send its complete source code free of charge to anyone who asks at the address below. This covers every component under the GPL, LGPL and MPL-2.0 in the licenses file, not only FFmpeg.
