Photo viewer — browse a folder, zoom to the pixel and see photo details

Loading the viewer…

Photos open in your browser and are never sent anywhere.

Install the site as an app with the install icon in the address bar, and photos will open in the viewer with a double-click from a folder.

What the viewer can do

It opens JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, animated GIF, BMP, ICO, SVG, HEIC from iPhone and TIFF, including multi-page scans. It browses a folder with the arrow keys, the wheel or a swipe, in the same order as File Explorer: the next photos are prepared in advance, so flipping through them has no delays. The wheel zooms toward the cursor, a double-click switches between 100% and fit, and 100% means one photo pixel per screen pixel, with no blur. It shows EXIF, the shooting location on a map, a histogram and the color of the pixel under the cursor. In edit mode, right here, it crops, adjusts light and color, applies filters, draws with a pen, a highlighter, arrows and shapes, erases unwanted objects, blurs or replaces the background, improves quality, hides faces and lets you select text on the photo. “Save as…” writes a copy in JPG, PNG or WebP with the compression you need and shows its size right away, and the original file stays untouched. It deletes failed shots with an undo and runs a slideshow.

Need to fix something — open it in the photo editor. Need another format — convert the image.

Frequently asked questions

Which formats does it open?

JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, animated GIF and APNG, BMP, ICO, SVG, HEIC and HEIF from iPhone, and TIFF from scanners: LZW, Deflate and PackBits compression, 16-bit and multi-page. PSD files open in the photo editor. If the browser can't handle a format, the viewer offers the converter.

Can I open photos with a double-click?

Yes, in Chrome and Edge on a computer. Install the site as an app with the install icon in the address bar. Then right-click a photo, choose “Open with”, pick BrowsersKit and tick “Always use this app”.

How do I browse the other photos in the folder?

The browser gives the site only the file you opened, so the first time press “Show all photos in the folder” and allow access. The viewer remembers the folder along with its subfolders. If you choose “Allow on every visit”, the neighboring photos will be ready right away. The browser doesn't open the Desktop, Documents and Downloads folders as a whole. There, select the photos yourself: Ctrl+A selects all.

Does the viewer change my file?

No. Rotation, cropping and other edits go only into a new file, through “Save as…” or Ctrl+S, and the original stays as it was. A JPEG that was only rotated is saved without recompression: only the orientation mark changes in the copy. In the save window you choose the format, compression and size, and you see right away how much the copy will weigh.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Photos open right in the browser and never leave your computer or phone. We don't see or store them. The map opens only when you click it.

What are the keyboard shortcuts?

The arrow keys, Space and Page Up/Down switch photos, Home and End go to the first and the last one. Plus and minus change the zoom, 0 fits the photo to the window, 1 shows it at 100%. R and L rotate, E opens edit mode, C opens cropping, X selects text on the photo, Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo an edit, F goes full screen, I shows photo info, F5 starts a slideshow, Ctrl+S saves a copy, Delete deletes and Ctrl+C copies. F1 opens the full list.

What can I edit right in the viewer?

Press “Edit” or E: tabs appear at the top, like in the system photo viewer. “Crop” gives a frame with aspect ratios. “Adjust” has brightness, exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, vignette, saturation, warmth, tint and sharpness. “Filters” are ready-made looks with a strength slider. “Draw” has a pen, a highlighter, a line, an arrow, a rectangle and an oval. “Erase”: paint over an unwanted object and the spot is filled in from its surroundings. “Background”: remove it, blur it or fill it with a color. “More” has quality enhancement, hiding faces and text from the photo. Any edit can be undone, and the result is saved as a copy with “Save as…”.

Does a deleted photo go to the Recycle Bin?

No: browsers can't put files in the Recycle Bin, so the viewer asks before the first deletion. You can delete when a folder is open. While the window is open, the “Undo” button or Ctrl+Z brings the photo back.

Is it free to use?

Yes, this tool is free and needs no sign-up. Your file is processed right in your browser and is not uploaded to a server. There are no watermarks.
